Fintrol is used to eradicate trash fish (scale fish) from freshwater lakes, ponds and streams that contain mixed populations. The Catfish farmer may use Fintrol to selectively kill undesirable species of fish that commonly reduce the yields and increase the costs of catfish farming. The concentrations of Fintrol that kill the trash fish typically do not harm adult catfish. The Catfish farmer will most likely use 5 to 10 ppb of active ingredient to eradicate trash fish, whereas it would require an excess of 20 ppb to kill catfish. The farmer should bear in mind that high water temperature and reduced oxygen content may increase the sensitivity of fish to this and other chemicals. Always follow the label recommendations.
